2 cups sifted flour
1 level teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 level teaspoon baking soda
1 cup white granulated sugar
1 cup shortening
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts, optional
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350. Use ungreased cookie sheets.
Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and sugar together. Set aside.
Cream sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla together.
Mix dry ingredients into creamed mixture and blend in nuts.
Roll into balls, place on cookie sheet and flatten with a fork.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 3 - 4 dozen.
