Ice Cream Crispy Squares

1 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar
3 cups crispy rice cereal
1/2 gallon slightly softened,
...vanilla ice cream, oblong package
...is easier for fitting pan

Combine butter and sugar in a large saucepan.
Stir and melt over medium heat, being careful
not to let it burn. When completely mixed
together, add cereal.
Thoroughly coat cereal with mixture.
In 9 x 13 pan, pat down 3/4's of mixture.
Cut ice cream into squares and place a layer
over mixture. Layer remaining mixture on top.
Freeze until solid. Cut into squares to serve.
