    CandySweets - Chocolate Flavored Syrup

    Recipe Introduction

    Use to make hot cocoa, mocha milk drink, double chocolate soda or wherever chocolate syrup is wanted.

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 c. packed cocoa powder
    1 1/4 c. cold water
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. Splenda sugar substitute
    2 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

    Recipe

    Mix the cocoa, water, and salt in a heavy saucepan until smooth.
    Bring to a boil, and simmer gently, stirring constantly for 3 minutes.
    Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
    Add the Splenda and vanilla. Mix well.
    Pour into a jar, cover, and keep refrigerated until used.
    Stir in the jar before measuring to use.
    Makes 1 1/4 cups syrup or 20 one tablespoon servings.

    calories - 11, carbohydrates -2 g., protein - 1 g., fat - 0 g., cholesterol - 0 mg., fiber - 0.1 g., sodium - 25 mg.
    Diabetic exchanges:
    up to 2 tablespoons - free
    if 1/4 c. is used - count as 1 vegetable or 1/2 fruit
    Low sodium diets, omit the salt.
