    SpreadTopping - Bolognese Sauce

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 lb. 90% lean ground beef
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 minced garlic clove
    1/4 c. chopped carrot
    1 16oz. can chopped tomatoes with juice
    1/4 c. dry red wine or unsweetened grape juice
    1/2 tsp. dried basil or 1 tbsp. freshly chopped
    1/2 tsp. dried oregano or 2 tsp. freshly chopped
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
    1 tbsp. tomato paste

    Recipe

    Brown the beef in a large non stick frying pan with
    the onion, garlic, and carrot over a medium heat.
    Drain off the fat.
    Return the beef and vegetables to the pan.
    Add the tomatoes, wine, and seasonings and herbs.
    Cover and simmer for 40 - 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Stir in the tomato paste.
    Simmer, uncovered, for 5 - 10 minutes, until slightly thickened.
    Makes 4 servings.
