1/2 cup softened butter
3 ounces softened regular or reduced calorie cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 teaspoons assorted flavors of no sugar added fruit spreads
1 egg
1 teaspoon cold water
Recipe
Combine butter and cream cheese in a large bowl.
Beat until smooth and creamy.
Blend in vanilla.
Combine flour and salt.
Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing until forms soft dough.
Divide in 1/2 and wrap each in plastic wrap.
Refrigerate until firm.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Roll out 1 section of dough on lightly floured pastry cloth
or board to 1/8 inch thickness.
Cut with 3 inch round top of glass or biscuit cutter.
Spoon 1/2 teaspoon fruit spread on center of each circle.
Beat eggs with water.
Lightly brush onto edges of dough circles.
Bring 3 edges of dough up over fruit spread and pinch
together to seal.
Place on ungreased baking sheets.
Brush with egg mixture.
Repeat with other section of dough.
Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Let set on baking sheets 1 minute,
Transfer to wire rack to let cool completely.
Store in tightly covered container.
Makes 2 dozen.
