German - Himmel Futter

Recipe Introduction

A German treat traditionally served during the holidays.The literal translation of "himmil futter" is heavens food.

List of Ingredients

2 eggs, beaten
1 c. sugar, plus extra
2 heaping tbsp. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 lb. chopped dates
1/2 lb. chopped nuts
2 - 3 cut bananas
2 - 3 cut oranges


Recipe

Preheat oven to 350. Need 8x12x2" baking pan.
Mix the eggs, the 1 c. sugar, flour, baking powder, dates and nuts together.
Spread in baking pan and bake for 30 minutes.
Mix the cut bananas, oranges and a little extra sugar to taste together and let set.
After cake has cooled, break it into small pieces on a large serving platter.
Spoon the fruit mixture over cake pieces and top with whipped cream.
