Tastes a little like good lasagna, but it's a heck of a lot less work.
List of Ingredients
Lasagna Casserole #2, mock
1 pound lean ground beef
2 sausage links, casings removed
1 med. chopped green bell pepper
1 med. chopped onion
3 large finely chopped cloves garlic
1 6oz. can tomato paste
2 8oz. cans tomato sauce
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper, more or less to taste
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
2 c. Ricotta cheese
1 1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese
1/2 c. freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 c. macaroni, cooked al dente to pkg. directions
Preheat oven to 375. Need a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish.
Brown the beef, sausage, onion, garlic, and green pepper together in a fry pan. Then drain well.
Stir in the tomato paste and tomato sauce, salt, oregano, and cayenne pepper.
Cover, and simmer for 15 - 20 minutes.
Place 1/2 of the macaroni in the bottom of the casserole.
Then spread 1/2 of the meat mixture on top of that.
Spread with all of the ricotta cheese.
Sprinkle 1/2 of the cheddar cheese on top.
Add the other 1/2 of the macaroni.
The other 1/2 of the meat mixture and then the rest of the Cheddar cheese.
Top it all off by sprinkling the Parmesan cheese over all.
Cover and bake for 15 minutes.
Partially uncover, and bake for another 15 minutes.
