    British Bread Sauce

    Recipe Introduction

    A British sauce that is traditionally served with roast poultry or wild game.

    List of Ingredients

    2 whole cloves
    1 whole peeled onion
    1 bay leaf
    2 c. milk
    1/4 c. fresh breadcrumbs
    1 tbsp. butter
    2 tbsp. cream

    Recipe

    Stick the 2 cloves into the onion and place in a saucepan with the bay leaf and milk.
    Slowly bring to a boil.
    Turn off the heat, cover and leave so the flavors all mix together, for 10 minutes.
    Remove the bay leaf and onion.
    Add the breadcrumbs.
    Cover, heat to a simmer for 10 - 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Stir in the butter and cream and serve immediately.
    Makes 4 - 8 servings or 1 pint.
