Recipe Introduction
This gravy is known as red eye gravy.
Similar to techgoddess, recipe circus's
Red Eye Gravy
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 packet ham flavoring
1/2 cup strong black coffee
1 1/2 cup cold water
Stir sugar and ham flavoring into pan.
Stir constantly, and cook over a low heat until
all the sugar is dissolved.
Add coffee and water. Stir well.
Simmer for 5 - 10 minutes, or until the gravy has
been reduced a little.
Serve gravy over meat or as a side.
Makes 4 servings.
