    Onion Soup #4, French, crockpot

    Onion Soup #4, French, crockpot

    2 Tablespoon butter or margarine
    1 1/4 2 1/2 cups thinly sliced onions
    5 cups meat stock, canned bouillon or diluted bouillon cubes
    salt and pepper to taste
    finely grated Parmesan, Provolone or Cheddar cheese
    croutons or French bread

    Set the cheese and bread aside.
    Saute the onions in the butter until lightly browned.
    Place onions and the rest of the ingredients into the
    ctockpot/slow cooker and cook on low for 6 - 8 hours.
    Ladle into bowls.
    Place croutons on top or place the French bread slices
    around the edge of the soup bowl.
    Sprinkle 1/4 cup grated cheese on top of the bread.
    Set bowls on a baking sheet and bake at 350 until the
    cheese melts and the soup is hot.
    Makes about 6 cups.
