    Sweetened Condensed Milk, 2 versions

    Source of Recipe

    from alicia's kitchen newsletter readers

    Recipe Introduction

Make your own sweetened condensed milk. I don't remember who contributed this first recipe:

    Sweetened Condensed Milk

    1 cup powdered milk
    2/3 cup white granulated sugar
    1/3 cup boiling water
    3 tablespoons melted butter

Mix all the ingredients in a blender/food processor.

This makes the equivalent of 1, 14 ounce can.

    nancyf's version:

    Sweetened Condensed Milk

    1 cup boiling water
    1/4 cup butter
    2 cup granulated white sugar
4 cups dry non-fat powdered milk

Pour boiling water into blender/food processor's container.
Add butter and sugar. Blend until combined.
Add the dry milk powder 1 cup at a time, blending
    after each addition.

Store in refrigerator and use when a recipe calls
    for sweetened condensed milk.
    1 1/3 cups equals 1, 14 ounce can.
