    List of Ingredients

1 pound canned black beans, drained
    1/4 cup canned crushed tomatoes
    1 teaspoon chili powder
4 hoagy sandwich buns, cut in half lengthwise
    3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup salsa, mildness to your liking

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine beans, tomatoes and chili powder in a blender or food processor. Process until smooth. Transfer to a heavy nonstick skillet over medium heat. Stir 2-3 minutes or until hot. Remove from heat and set aside. Remove a small amount of center of each bread half to make a shallow hollow and divide beans among sandwich halves. Sprinkle with cheese. Place sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake in oven about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serve sandwiches with salsa.
