    Baked Vidalia Onions with Ham

    Source of Recipe

    from worldwiderecipes

    List of Ingredients

4 - 6 peeled Vidalia or other large, sweet onions
    1 c. bread crumbs
    1/4 lb. finely chopped ham
    1 tsp. dried poultry seasoning
    ground black pepper to taste
    1 tbsp. butter

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 400. Lightly grease a baking dish that will hold the onions.
Trim the root end of the onions off, just enough to allow them to sit flat.
Then cut a wide cone shaped hole in the top of the onions.
Place the onions in the baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.
Allow to cool slightly after removing from the oven.
Scoop the insides out of the onions, leaving 1/4" shell and place back into the baking dish.
Chop the cooked centers and mix with the bread crumbs, ham, poultry seasoning, and pepper.
    Dot each onion with butter.
Pour enough water in the dish to come about 1/4 of the way up the sides of the onions.
Bake, uncovered, for 30 - 45 minutes, until the stuffing is golden brown.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
    Makes 4 - 6 servings.
