    List of Ingredients


    • large round steak - 1" thick
    • 1/4 cup flour
    • 3 tsps salt
    • 1/8 tsp pepper
    • 1 medium onion, sliced
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 3 Tbsp shortening
    • 1 can mushrooms, sliced or stems and pieces
    • 1 tsp worchestershire sauce
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/8 tsp rosemary
    • 1/8 tsp cayenne
    • 1/4 tsp oregano
    • 1- 6oz can of tomato paste
    • 1/4 cup ketchup
    • 1 - 8 1/2 oz can of applesauce


    Instructions


    1. Cut steak into serving size pieces.

    2. Combine flour, salt and pepper and pound into steak.

    3. Brown meat, onion and garlic in shortening.

    4. Pour off drippings.

    5. Add worchestershire sauce, water and spices to pan.

    6. Cover tightly and simmer for 2 hours.

    7. Stir in tomato paste, ketchup, applesauce and mushrooms.

    8. Continue cooking for 30 minutes or until fork tender.



    Final Comments


    Nice with potatoes, rice or noodles.
