    Hamburger Buns

    Source of Recipe

A cookbook, but don't remember which one.

    List of Ingredients

    • 3 Tbsp soft butter
    • 3/4 cup lukewarm milk
    • 1/3 cup + 1 Tbsp lukewarm water
    • 1/3 cup potato buds/flakes
    • 3 cups flour
    • 1 1/2 tsp salt
    • 3 Tbsp sugar
    • 2 1/2 tsp yeast

    Instructions

    1. Place ingredients in a bread machine in the order given. Turn on bread machine to dough cycle.

    2. Remove dough after the cycle is done and shape into a round ball, smooth it out with a pin or your hands. About 1 inch thick or so.

    3. Cut with a knife, 8 pieces in equal sizes, approximately. Smooth each piece into a ball and make sure it's smooth on top. Flatten each ball with the palm of your hand.

    4. Place the rolls on a lightly greased baking sheet or stoneware baking sheet. Cover and set aside in warm place till they are very puffy. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

    5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for about 15 to 22 minutes. Depending on your oven, till golden brown.

    6. Spread tops with melted butter, if desired. Makes 8 buns.

    Final Comments

I experimented with using melted butter and/or shortening. It works both ways. Also, baking the longer time, makes them more like hamburger buns. They get very golden brown. Yummy! Enjoy.
