    Famous Chocolate Cake

    Recipe Introduction


    This cake is best when cooled. Spread frosting on when it has cooled.


    List of Ingredients


    • 3 cups flour
    • 2 cups sugar ****OR 1/2 cup Splenda + 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • 2 tsp baking soda
    • 1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 3/4 cup oil
    • 2 Tbsp vinegar
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2 cups cold water


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Mix all of the above ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir together well.
    3. Bake in preheated oven for about 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
    4. Frost when cool.


    Final Comments


    Any frosting would work on this cake, but I used "Marilyn's Frosting." It is an old family favorite and it worked well. Look under FROSTINGS here for that recipe.
