SWEET AND SAVORY GOES GREAT WITH ANY MEAL
List of Ingredients
- 2 PACKAGES (1/4OZ EACH) ACTIVE DRY YEAST
- 1 CUP WARM MILK ( 110 TO 115 DEGREES)
- 1/3 CUP MARGARINE, SOFTENED
- 1/2 CUP SUGAR
- 1 CUP COOKED OR CANNED PUMPKIN
- 3 EGGS
- 1 1/2 TEASPOONS SALT
- 5-1/2 TO 6 CUPS ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
- 1 TABLESPOON COLD WATER
- SESAME SEEDS AND OR POPPY SEEDS OPTIONAL
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk add the butter sugar and pumpkin mix.....add 2 eggs salt and 3 cups flour....
- beat until completely smooyh. stir in enough remaining flour to form a nice smooth soft dough
- Turn on to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic about 6 minutes.
- Place in a greased bowl, turn once cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled ( about an hour)
- Punch dough down turn onto a floured surface divide in half
- shape each portion into 12 balls
- rools each ball into a rope about 10 inches tie into a knot and continue place on a baking sheet 2 inches apart when all the dough is complete cover and let rise once again in a warm area for about 30 minutes
- in a small bowl mix the last egg witht the water (milk) can be used as well and brush the dough generously sprinkle with seeds if desired
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 16 minutes until golden brown.
