    This is a hearty, delicious bread.

    List of Ingredients




    1 cup boiling water
    1/2 cup Roman Meal Original with Oats Hot Cereal
    2 Tbs. brown sugar
    1/2 cup whole wheat flour
    1 Tbs. olive oil
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 cup warm water
    1 pkg. yeast
    2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups bread flour

    Add hot cereal to boiling water. Let cool until 120 degrees. Add the brown sugar, whole wheat flour, olive oil and salt. Mix well.
    Dissolve the yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add the cereal mixture. Mix well. (I mix mine in a mixing bowl with a bread hook.) Add bread flour until a soft dough is formed. Knead until the dough is elastic, approx. 10 minutes. (I knead mine with the bread hook in a mixing bowl.) Spray the bowl with nonstick cooking spray. Turn the dough in the bowl until all sides are coated. Cover and let rise until doubled, approx. 1 hour.
    Punch dough down. Put in a loaf pan that is sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Cover and let rise until almost doubled, approx. 45 minutes.
    Heat oven to 400 degrees. Bake bread for 30 minutes. Remove bread from pan and let cool on a wire rack.

    Yield: 1 loaf
