    LEMON TEA BREAD

    1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
    1 cup granulated sugar
    2 eggs
    1 cup flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 cup milk
    zest of one lemon
    1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

    GLAZE
    1 cup powdered sugar
    2 Tbls. lemon juice

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350ºF.

    Beat shortening and sugar at med. speed until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Add lemon zest (and pecans if desired).

    Pour into greased & floured 9x5" loaf pan.

    Bake 50-55 minutes. When cool, drizzle with glaze or leave plain.

    NOTE: I like this bread better without the nuts. ~Star~)
