    Beer Bread #3

    Source of Recipe

    internet

    List of Ingredients

    3 cups self-rising flour
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer
    3 tablespoons white sugar
Butter for brushing on baked loaf

    Recipe

Mix flour & sugar. Stir in beer until moistened. Batter will be sticky. Pour into a greased 9" x 5" loaf pan.

Bake at 350°F for 50 for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The top will be crunchy, and the insides will be soft. Brush the top of the loaf with melted butter & let cool before slicing.

    Possible add-ins:
    Grated sharp cheddar cheese
    Nuts
    Raisins
    Green chiles
    Use your imagination.

Yield: One loaf (about 12 servings).

Comments: A classic recipe that yields a very good bread. If you do not have any self-rising flour on hand, just use 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus 3/4 teaspoon salt, & 1 tablespoon baking powder. You can add 1/2 cup of any of the add-ins if you want.
