    Caramel Cake and Caramel Frosting

    Cake:
    1/2 c butter or margarine
    1 c brown sugar (I use light)
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 c flour
    1 1/2 tsp baking powder
    1/2 c milk
    1/2 tsp vanilla

    Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Bake in greased and floured pans 20-25 minutes.

    Caramel Frosting

    2/3 c butter or margarine
    1 c dark brown sugar
    1/2 c milk
    1 box powdered sugar
    1 tsp vanilla

    Recipe



    Melt butter, add sugar and bring to a boil. Stir and simmer for five minutes. Cool ten minutes and then beat in the powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until thick and frost cake.

    My notes: To bake the cake at 450º seems too hot to me, I think I'd start at 350º and test the cake; just my opinion!
