    Fresh Apple Cake with Cinnamon Sauce

    This is another old recipe that is just delicious. You serve the cake warm or cold but serve the sauce hot. Serves about 12-16.

    List of Ingredients




    3 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1-cup oil
    2 cups sugar
    1-teaspoon nutmeg
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1 teaspoon Baking Soda
    1/2-teaspoon salt
    1 cup pecans or walnuts, finely chopped
    3 cups apple, finely chopped ( Jonathan or Granny Smith or any tart apple that holds together when baked)

    Recipe



    Reserve 1/4-cup flour and toss with apples and nuts. Beat eggs thoroughly and blend in sugar. Add flour and oil gradually alternating them.

    Add Baking Soda--spices and vanilla and mix well. Fold in apples and nuts. Bake in a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan at 350 F.degrees for 1 hour.

    Cinnamon Sauce for Fresh Apple Cake

    1-cup sugar
    2 heaping tablespoons cornstarch
    1/4 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    Dash nutmeg
    2-cups water

    Bring to a boil and simmer for five minutes then remove from heat and add two-tablespoons butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla.

    Serve hot cinnamon sauce poured over slices of apple cake!
