    Butterscotch oatmeal cookies

    Makes 2 dozen

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 cup shortening (such as Crisco)
    1 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/4 cup water
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    3 cups instant oatmeal
    1 11-ounce bag Nestle's butterscotch chips

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Cream shortening and sugars together. Add water, egg and vanilla and mix until smooth.

    In a separate bowl sift flour, salt and baking soda together. Add to batter gradually and blend until smooth.
    Add oatmeal and butterscotch chips and mix.

    Drop by rounded teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets.

    Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
