    Recipe

In a large mixcing bowl, cream butter, peanut butter, and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, oats, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in chips. Drop by rounded Tablespoonfulls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks.

    Yield: 5 dozen

NOTES : When I made this, I used 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup butter-flavored crisco. I also replaced the milk chocolate chips with Skor toffee bits and added 1 cup of peanut butter to creamed ingredients.

(For high altitude, use 1 1/2 tsp baking soda but do not increase flour or oats.)
