    1/2 cup butter or margarine
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    20 to 25 maraschino cherries
    20 to 25 chocolate chips


    Recipe



    Cream sugar and butter well. Add vanilla extract, flour and salt. Mix well. Stuff cherries with chocolate chips. Wrap each cherry in 1 teaspoon dough. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 12 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees F. Cool.

    Dip tops of cookies in melted chocolate.

    Review by tina: it is so yummy! The dough was really coarse and crumbly when I was finished with it. I was convinced it was supposed to have eggs in it, but it wasn't. So the dough was a little difficult to work with, and I thought it was a hassle at first. I was thinking, "the taste of this cookie better be worth the time it's taking me to wrap all these cherries!" Then, I started to get the hang of wrapping the dough more efficiently, and after tasting one, I decided it was definitely worth the trouble! They have a familiar taste, though I'm not sure what it was. The dough was chewy and buttery--this one's a keeper! Thanks twinkle!
