Barley With Mushrooms and Green Onions

1 cup barley ~ I used organic purple barley (but it tastes the same)
1 can (14 1/2 oz) roasted garlic chicken broth (about 2 cups) ~ I used vegetable broth
3 to 4 green onions, thinly sliced (about 1/2 cup)
4 to 6 ounces fresh or canned mushrooms, sliced
salt or seasoned salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons butterRecipe
Combine all ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours.
