    German Apple Pudding Cake

    2 cups peeled diced apples
    1 cup sugar
    1 egg
    1 cup flour
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (I use less)
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 cup chopped nuts
    3/4 cup raisins (I don't use that many)
    1 tsp. vanilla

    TOPPING:
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 cup water
    1/2 cup white sugar
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 cup chopped nuts
    1/2 cup raisins (again I use less)

    Recipe



    Mix apples and sugar together; let stand until sugar is dissolved.

    Add eggs, mix well. Sift dry ingredient together. Stir into apple mixture. Add nuts, raisins and vanilla.

    Pour into greased 8"x8" pan; bake at 375ºF for 40 to 45 minutes. Mix topping.

    Topping: Mix sugars, flour and water. Cook until slightly thick and clear. Add rest of ingredients. Stir until butter is melted. Pour over hot baked cake.
