1/4 c soft butter
1 c sugar
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 egg, beaten
4 c flour
2 t baking powder
1/4 t nutmeg
1/2 t soda
3/4 c buttermilk
Powdered sugar

Recipe



Cream the butter & sugar. Stir in egg yolks & whole egg; blend.

In a separate bowl, sift dry all dry ingredients except powdered sugar; add to cream mixture & alternate with buttermilk. Stir to mix all ingredients.

Cook by dropping spoonfuls into 375ºF deep fat. Fry a few at a time to keep fat temperature constant. Turn to brown on all sides. Drain on paper towels; sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Makes 3 dozen.
