    Old Fashioned Fudge Pie

    Source of Recipe

    internet

    Recipe Introduction

gaudrey_GA: A friend's mom who died several years ago gave me this recipe. I think it came from her mother. Since my friend's mom was in her 80s, this has got be old. It's easy and great for chocolate lovers. It's like a cross between a really creamy fudge and very moist brownie.

    List of Ingredients

    2 eggs, beaten
    1 1/4 cups sugar
    1/4 cup plain flour
    1/4 cup cocoa powder
    1 stick of butter, melted
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    Pinch of salt
    1 unbaked 9" pie shell

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine all ingredients and pour into the unbaked pie shell. Bake until set, about 30 minutes. If not set in that length of time, bake 5 minutes longer and remove from oven. Cool before cutting.

Note: Don't overbake. 35 minutes usually is long enough. The pie firms up as it cools and gets more firm after being chilled for at least an hour before serving. It will have a thin crust on top and the inside will be like a combination of very creamy fudge and very moist brownie. May be topped with whipped cream, berries, or ice cream of your choice. May also add 1/2 to 1/3 cup lightly toasted chopped hazelnuts or black walnuts.
