    4 LARGE RIPE TOMATOES, CUT INTO WEDGES
    1 MEDIUM SWEET ONION, CUT INTO THIN WEDGES
    1 MEDIUM GREEN BELL PEPPER, CUT INTO THIN STRIPS

    DRESSING:
    3 TBSP. RED WINE VINEGAR
    1 TBSP. SUGAR
    1 TBSP. FINELY CHOPPED FRESH BASIL

    PLACE THE VEGETABLES IN A SHALLOW DISH. COMBINE THE DRESSING INGREDIENTS IN A SMALL BOWL AND POUR OVER THE VEGETABLES. TOSS TO MIX WELL. COVER THE SALAD AND CHILL FOR SEVERAL HOURS. STIRRING OCCASIONALLY BEFORE SERVING.
