    Smoky sweet-hot sauce multi-tasks for chicken, beef, pork and veggies. Garlic, allspice and chipotle chiles blended with maple hold it all together.


    List of Ingredients


    • 3 large chipotle chiles in adobo sauce
    • 1/4 cup tomato ketchup
    • 1/4 cup 100% pure maple syrup
    • 1 cup chicken broth
    • 1/8 tsp ground allspice
    • 1 tbsp onion, minced
    • 2 large cloves garlic, smashed, peeled and minced
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice


    Instructions


    1. In a blender, combine first 5 ingredients.
    2. Heat oil until hot, but not smoking in medium saucepan, over moderately high heat; add onion and garlic and cook 5 minutes until golden.
    3. Add chipotle puree, season with salt and pepper and cook over low heat until thickened, 15 minutes.
    4. Stir in lemon juice and allow to cool.


    Final Comments


    Makes about 1 cup.
