    Lasagna Casserole

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 box lasagna noodles
    • 1 lb. ground beef
    • 1 jar spaghetti sauce (28 ounces)
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 container part skim ricotta cheese ( 16 ounces)
    • 2 cups shredded mozarella cheese divided
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmeson cheese, divided
    • 1 large tomato
    • 2 Tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
    • Fresh basil spriggs for garnish


    Instructions


    1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

    2. Prepare lasagna according to the package directions. Drain and rinse the noodles well with cool water, drain well.

    3. In a large skillet cook ground beef until browned and crumbly about 10 min. Drain off excess grease, stir in spaghetti sauce.

    4. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta and egg. Ladle 1/4 of meat sauce over bottom of a 13x 9 inch pan. Arrange some noodles over sauce, over lapping them slightly.

    5. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodle, top with 1/3 of the mozzarella.

    6. Spread more of the meat sauce over the top of noodles.

    7. Add 1 Tbsp. parmesan over the meat sauce. Repeat layering with remaning ingredients, end with meat sauce and parmesan cheese.

    8. For the topping of the lasagna, cut the tomato into thin slices. Arrange the tomatoes on the lasagna, sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

    9. Cover with foil, bake about 40 min. Let cool for about 5 min. and garnish with basil spriggs.



    Final Comments


    Drain cooked noodles in a colander and drizzle with olive oil to keep them from sticking together. They will be easier to handle.
