    Frango Mint Cake

    Source of Recipe

    Kathy Stybr - Principal

    Recipe Introduction

My Grandma would take me to Marshall Fields on State Street every Christmas. This yummy treat, inspired by Frango mints sold at Marshall Fields, brings back great memories.

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 c butter
    1 c sugar
    1 c flour + 1 Tbsp
    4 eggs
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1 (16-oz) can Hershey's chocolate syrup
    Topping #1
    1/2 c butter
    2 c powdered sugar
    2 Tbsp milk
    3/4 tsp mint extract
    green food coloring
    Topping #2
    6 Tbsp butter
1 c semi sweet chocolate chips

    Recipe

Cream butter and sugar. Add flour, eggs, vanilla and chocolate syrup. Mix well. Pour into ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool.
Beat topping #1 ingredients together; add just enough green coloring to make a light green mint color. Spread over cooled cake.
Melt together ingredients for topping # 2. This should be thin and easy to pour over first layer. Quickly spread with a knife. If too thick, add a little milk.
