    Kathy Gill's Chocolate Caramel Brownies

    List of Ingredients

    1 lb light caramels
    1 pkg German chocolate or devils food cake mix
    1 c chopped pecans (optional)
    2/3 c evaporated milk
    1/2 c margarine, melted
    1 c chocolate chips

    Recipe

    Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in top of double broiler (microwave also works on lower settings). Heat, stirring occasionally, until caramels are melted. Set aside. Combine cake mix with melted margarine, remaining 1/3 c milk and pecans. Stir well by hand. Press 1/2 the dough in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chips over dough. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Crumble remaining dough over top. Bake another 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cut into bars when cool.
