    Recipe Introduction

Christmas Cookie Tree: After baking, the cookies can be iced and then tied to a small, Christmas tree.

    List of Ingredients

    1 c sugar
    1 c butter
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp soda
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    2 c white flour
    2 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp almond extract
    Icing Paint:
    1 egg yolk
    1/2 tsp water
    3 c powderer sugar
    3 Tbsp milk
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    Other Items Needed:
    variety cookie cutter shapes
    dental floss (unflavored)
    small, artificial (Christmas) tree
    small paint brushes
    food coloring

    Recipe

Mix all cookie ingredients. Roll out dough on a flat surface using flour or powdered sugar to avoid sticking to the surface. Use cookie cutters to make holiday shapes with this dough. Before cooking, use a 12 inch string of dental floss (unflavored) and fold it in half. Press the folded part in the top of the shape, leaving the two ends free to tie later. Bake cookies at 325 degrees. Remove any strings from the body of the cookie so as to avoid the string getting baked in the body of the cookie. Be gentle when removing cookies off pan. Mix icing ingredients. Use food coloring to make 4 or more colors. Using paint brushes, paint the cookies. To moisten the icing, add milk for easier painting of the cookies. Let icing dry on cookies. Tie cookies on branches all over the tree.
