Recipe Introduction

Crystal Rock Garden is a great science experiment that demonstrates how crystals form and grow.

List of Ingredients

1 small sponge
4 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp water
2 Tbsp liquid bluing
food coloring


Recipe

Cut a sponge into several small pieces. Place sponge pieces in a small plastic or glass bowl. Sprinkle 2 Tbsp of the salt and all of the water and liquid bluing over the sponge pices. Allow the concoction to set for 24 hours. Sprinkle the remaining 2 Tbsp of salt over the sponge pieces. All the concoction to set for an additional 24 hours. Repeat step 2, then add a few drops of food coloring to each sponge piece. By this time, your crystal flower garden should be starting to bloom. You can use cotton balls, coal or porous bricks in place of a sponge to creat your Crystal Rock Garden.
