    Oven-baked French Toast

    Makes 4 servings

    List of Ingredients

    8 slices French Bread
    1/4 cup Butter or Margarine
    2 Tbsp. Sugar
    1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
    3 Eggs
    3/4 cup Orange Juice
    Powdered Sugar (optional)

    Recipe

Preheat oven to 425º degrees. If you have not already done so, cut French bread diagonally into thick slices. Line a large, flat, rimmed pan with foil. Melt butter; pour and swirl it all over the bottom of the pan. Mix sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the butter. Lightly beat eggs, and stir in the orange juice. Dip each slice of bread in the OJ-egg batter; allow it to really soak it up, then transfer to cinnamon-and-sugar-lined pan. If there is any batter left, pour it over the pieces of bread.
*Slide the pan into the oven and bake for about 10 minutes; then turn the pieces of bread over with a wide spatula, and continue cooking until nicely firmed up and lightly browned, probably another 10-15 minutes. If you like, serve with a dusting of powdered sugar.
