    This is a recipe that my mother always made.

    List of Ingredients




    2 lb. raw shrimp, shelled
    2 tbsp butter or oil
    1 clove minced garlic
    1 c. minced onion
    1 green pepper, chopped
    1 1/2 c. sliced celery
    1 c. water
    1 (1 lb. 12 oz.) can tomatoes
    1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 tsp cayenne powder

    Recipe



    Bring water to boil. Add shrimp; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 3 minutes. Drain. Saute garlic, onion, green pepper, and celery in butter until tender, Add remaining ingredients. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes. Stir in shrimp and heat 5 minutes. Serve over rice.
