Calhoun's famous Key Lime Pie
List of Ingredients
- Crust
- 5 Tsp butter
- 3/4 c. grahan cracker crumbs
- 1 Tsp suger
- Filling
- 2 cans (14oz ea.) sweetened condensed milk
- 8 large eggs yolks
- 5 oz fresh key lime juice
- 1/2 tsp lime zest
Instructions
- Melt butter and mix with crumbs and sugar until moist enough to press onto 9" or 10" pie pan. Chill crust for at least 30 minutes.
- Place condensed milk into mixing bowl, Add yolks. whip until smooth. Add key lime juice. whip until well mixed.add zest mix Pour filling into chilled crust. ake in 350 degree preheated oven for 14 minutes. Turn oven off, leave door closed. Leave pie for additional 25 minutes.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving. Pie can be made a day or 2 ahead.Serve with sweetened whip cream, garnish with the lime zest.
