    THIS RECIPE MAKES A MOIST AND DELICIOUS CAKE THAT IS GOOD ALONE OR WITH FRESH FRUIT AND WHIPPED CREAM


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 CUP SHORTENING
    • 1 CUP BUTTER
    • 2 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
    • 5 EGGS
    • 2 TSP. VANILLA
    • 1 CUP MILK
    • 1/2 TSP BAKING POWDER
    • 3 CUPS CAKE FLOUR


    Instructions


    1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
    2. GREASE AND FLOUR A TUBE PAN
    3. CREAM THE SHORTENING, BUTTER, AND SUGAR UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY(APPROX.6 MINUTES)
    4. ADD THE EGGS ONE AT A TIME AND BEAT WELL AFTER EACH ADDITION
    5. ADD THE VANILLA
    6. MIX THE BAKING POWDER AND THE FLOUR TOGETHER
    7. ALTERNATELY ADD THE FLOUR MIXTURE AND THE MILK, STARTING AND ENDING WITH THE FLOUR.
    8. POUR BATTER INTO PREPARED TUBE PAN AND BAKE FOR 1 1/2 HOURS, OR WHEN A TOOTHPICK COMES OUT CLEAN AFTER YOU INSERT IT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE CAKE.
    9. COOL IN PAN FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN TURN OUT ONTO A WIRE RACK TO COOL COMPLETELY.
