    • 1 1/2 CUP ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
    • 2 TEASPOONS BAKING POWDER
    • 1 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1/2 CUP BUTTER,DIVIDED
    • 2/3 CUP SUGAR
    • 1/2 CUP RAISINS
    • 1 CUP MILK
    • 1 TABLESPOON GRATED LEMON RIND
    • 1/2 CUP MOLASSES
    • 1 1/4 CUP WATER
    • JUICE OF ONE LEMON


    Instructions


    1. SIFT TOGETHER THE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, AND SALT.
    2. CREAM 4 TABLESPOONS OF BUTTER, GRADUALLY ADD SUGAR TO THE BUTTER AND BEAT UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY.
    3. ADD MILK ATERNATLEY WITH FLOUR,BEATING AFTER EACH ADDITION. BEAT UNTIL SMOOTH
    4. STIR IN THE RAISINS AND LEMON RIND.
    5. POUR MIXTURE INTO A WELL GREASED 9 INCH SQUARE PAN.
    6. COMBINE THE LEMON JUICE, REMAINING BUTTER, MOLASSES, AND WATER IN A SAUCEPAN. BRING TO A BOIL.
    7. REMOVE FROM HEAT AND GENTLY POUR OVER THE BATTER.
    8. BAKE IN A 350 DEGREE OVEN FOR 45 MINUTES.
    9. SERVE WARM.
