    • 1 POUND OKRA
    • CORNMEAL
    • SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
    • 1/2 CUP SHORTENING


    Instructions


    1. WASH THE OKRA, CUT OFF THE STEMS AND SLICE INTO 1/4 INCH SLICES
    2. DREDGE OKRA IN CORNMEAL, COATING THOROUGHLY
    3. HEAT SHORTNEING TO MEDIUM HEAT.
    4. ADD OKRA TO PAN. WHEN OKRA IS BROWN ON BOTTOM TURN OVER AND BROWN ON OTHER SIDE.
    5. REMOVE FROM PAN WITH A SPATULA AND DRAIN ON PAPER TOWELS
    6. SEASON WITH SALT AND PEPPER
