    List of Ingredients


    • 2 CUPS FRESH OKRA, CUT INTO 1/4 INCH SLICES
    • 1/2 CUP ONION, DICED
    • 3/4 CUP UNCOOKED WHITE RICE
    • 1 (12 OZ.) CAN TOMATOES
    • 1 (12 OZ. ) CAN WATER
    • 1/4 CUP CRISCO
    • 1 TABLESPOON SALT
    • 1 TABLESPOON FINE BLACK PEPPER.


    Instructions


    1. IN FRYING PAN, HEAT CRISCO UNTIL HOT (MED. HIGH HEAT). ADD OKRA AND ONION. SAUTE UNTILL THE ONIONS BECOME TRANSLUCENT. ADD THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS AND REDUCE HEAT TO A SIMMER.
    2. COVER AND COOK FOR 20 MINUTES.
    3. REMOVE FROM HEAT AND LET SIT FOR 10 MINUTES.
    4. STIR AGAIN AND SERVE.
