Recipe By : Tupperware 1969 catalog
    Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Cookies And Brownies Holidays

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    1 1/2 Cups Confectioner's Sugar
    1 Cup Butter
    1 Egg
    1 Teaspoon Vanilla
    1/2 Teaspoon Almond Extract
    2 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
    1 Teaspoon Cream Of Tartar
    1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
    Colored Sprinkles And/Or
    Egg Yolk Paint
1/2 Cup Confectioner's Sugar -- For Rolling Dough
    Eggs -- For Paint
    Food Coloring -- for paint

Cream sugar and butter; add egg and
flavorings. Mix well. Sift dry ingredients
together and stir into creamed mixture. Cover
and refrgerate for 2 or 3 hours. Divide in
half. Roll out on surface lightly dusted with
confectioner's sugar. Cut, decorate and bake
for 7-8 minutes at 375°f. (Should be just
turning light golden brown at edge.) Yield is
determined by the size of cookie cutters
    used.

    Egg Yolk Paint For Cookies

    1 Egg Yolk -- Beaten
    1/4 Teaspoon Water
    Food Coloring

    1. Prepare one recipe of egg yolk paint for
    every 2 colors.
    2. Combine egg yolk and water and mix well.
    3. Divide into two containers, add food
    coloring.
    4. Keep paint tightly covered until ready to
    use.
    5. If paint thickens, add a few drops of
    water.
    6. This is great to paint on cookies.

NOTES : Dianne Ward's old faithful best sugar
cookie recipe from a 1969 Tupperware catalog.
ALWAYS roll these or any other rolled light
colored cookie dough in confectioner's sugar,
not flour. There will be no floury taste in
the baked cookie and they will be crisper.
Chocolate dough could be rolled out on cocoa
    powder.
