    1 1/2 cups butter -- room temperature
    8 ounces cream cheese -- room temperature
    3 cups sugar
    6 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    powdered sugar -- optional

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 325. Grease and flour 10" tube pan with removable bottom;
    set aside.

    In large bowl, cream butter and cream cheese. Mix in sugar and 2 eggs, then
    stir in flour and remaining eggs. Add vanilla and mix well.

    Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes. Top 1-2" of
    cake should be moist. Remove from oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar, if
    desired. Allow cake to cool before removing from pan. Makes 16 to 20
    servings.
