    unknown

    List of Ingredients

6 cups peeled cored, sliced tart baking apples
    1 cup granulated sugar
    4 Tbs all-purpose flour, (4-5)
    3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
    1/8 tsp ground cloves
    1/8 tsp salt
2 Tbs margarine, cut into pieces
    DOUBLE PIE CRUST:
    1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    3 Tbs granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp salt
5 Tbs cold margarine, cut into pieces (5-6)
    5 Tbs ice water, (5-7)

    Recipe

    1 Preheat oven to 425°.
2 Roll 2/3 of Double Pie Crust on floured surface to form circle 2 inches larger than inverted 9-inch pie pan; ease pastry into pan.
3 In large bowl, toss apples with combined sugar, flour, spices and salt. Arrange apples in pastry and dot with margarine.
4 Roll remaining 1/3 Double Pie Crust to fit cop of pie and place over apples. Trim edges of pastry to within 1/2 inch of pan; fold top pastry over bottom pastry and flute. Cut vents in top crust.
5 Bake 40 to 50 minutes, until apples are fork-tender and pastry browned. Cover pastry with aluminum foil if it is becoming too brown. Cool on wire rack 15 to 20 minutes before cutting.
6 Double Pie Crust: In medium bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt. With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add water, a tablespoon at a time, mixing with fork until dough forms. Roll and bake as recipe directs.
