    List of Ingredients

    Layers:
    6 eggs
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 cup flour

    Filling:
    4 cups fresh strawberries
    scant 1/4 cup powdered sugar

    Decoration:
    1 1/4 - 1 3/4 cups whipping cream
    1 - 1 1/2 tsp vanilla sugar
    4 cups fresh strawberries
good 1/3 cup flaked, toasted almonds

    Recipe

Beat eggs and sugar fluffy, at least 5 minutes if you use a machine, 8 - 10
minutes by hand. Add flour and blend gently. Grease and flour a large, round
cake pan, capacity approx 10 cups, and pour in the cake batter. Bake at 350F
for about 40 minutes or until the cake is done (a stick inserted in the
middle should come out dry and clean). Allow the cake
to cool, then loosen it and unmold on a rack. Let cool completely under a
    cloth.

Rinse the strawberries if needed, remove the "knobs" and wipe them with lots
of paper. Slice them, crush them slightly and add sugar.

Split the cake in two layers. Put the bottom layer on a plate and cover with
the mashed strawberries. Beat the cream until thick and flavor with vanilla
sugar, then spread or pipe out the cream on the surface (in a nice pattern
if you wish) and put in a cold place for 1 - 2 hours.

Trim the decoration berries and decorate the cake, either with whole berries
or split with the rounded side up. Gently press the flaked almonds along the
    sides of the cake. Serve
