    1/2 cup shortening
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    1 1/3 cups sifted powdered sugar
    1 Tbs milk
    1 cup sifted powdered sugar
    3 tsp milk, (3-4)

    Recipe



    Beat 1/2 cup shortening and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla in a small bowl with an electric mixer for 30 seconds. Gradually add 1 1/3 cups sifted powdered sugar, mixing well. Add 1 tablespoon milk. Gradually beat in 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and enough milk (3 to 4 teaspoons) to make a frosting of piping consistency. Color as desired with red paste food coloring.
