2 cups maple syrup
2 cups water
6 large apples

Choose an apple that will hold its shape in the cooking process.
Jonathan, Baldwin and Rome apples are good choices. Mac's are
delicious but will turn into sauce rather than staying whole.
Boil syrup and water together for 10 minutes. Peel and core apples
and simmer whole in the syrup until tender, turning carefully with a
fork or large slotted spoon once or twice. Serve warm with a spoonful
of the syrup and either sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
For something different, try a dollop of sour cream or vanilla
yogurt. Sprinkle with coarsely chopped walnuts and enjoy!
