    Christmas: Christmas Eve Chocolate Cake

    List of Ingredients




    2 cups of sugar
    2 cups of flour
    1/2 cup of shortening
    1/2 cup of butter or margarine
    1 cup of water
    1/4 cup of cocoa
    1/2 cup fo buttermilk
    2 large eggs, beaten
    1 teaspoon of soda
    1 teaspoon of vanilla

    FROSTING:

    1/2 cup of butter or margarine
    1/4 cup of cocoa
    6 tablespoons of milk
    1 box (1 lb.) of powdered sugar
    1 teaspoon of vanilla
    1 cup of chopped nuts

    Recipe



    Sift sugar and flour together. Bring shortening, butter,
    water and cocoa to a boil in saucepan. Pour over flour
    mixture while still hot. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and
    vanilla. Spoon into a large baking sheet with sides. Bake
    in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes. Ice cake while hot.

    For the frosting:

    Combine butter, cocoa and milk in saucepan; bring to a boil.
    Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts; mix
    well.
